How to Succeed in any Banking Interview
Not getting the call-backs that you anticipated after your banking interviews? Focus more on leaving a great lasting impression. The trick to doing so? It’s all about narrative.
Interviewers are no longer looking for the sharpest candidate necessarily, but one who can combine that intellectual interest with a true excitement about the work and the people they’ll be working with.
For increasing your chances of call-back (and eventually hire), use story telling that combines your past experience with your future plans. If you can artfully turn these experiences into a narrated story, while reeling in emotions, you’ll tremendously increase your chances of being remembered amongst other candidates. Interviewers want to hear stories where you are the protagonist, proving that your decisions have resulted in how far you’ve come today. And lastly, forget money and status. Candidates who narrate that they are truly following their intrinsic passion are more likely to succeed in the interview process.
Through all of this, you’ll prove that you’re a great team member with a longing interest in the banking industry. Interviewers want to get to know the real you, including your goals, your passions in banking, your experiences (told in a storytelling manner, of course), and that you’re truly excited for the people you’ll meet along the way.
